David Moyes closes on £54m Ander Herrera Marouane Fellaini for Manchester United. The Manchester United Manager David Moyes was close to finalising a record double deal late on transfer Deadline Day the boss had just the loose ends to tie up a £54.5million splurge for Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini making it the club`s biggest ever day of spending Herrera is joining form Athletic Bilbao for £30.5million while Fellaini cost £24million from Everton.
Both of the players were expected to sign a five year deals worth £90,000 a week, that means a total outlay of just over £100million on fees and wages.
The transfer fees alone are the most the club has splashed out in a single window since 2006, and the fee for Herrera, 24, is just short of Manchester United`s individual transfer record of £30.75million witch they paid Fulham for Dimitar Berbatov, also on dead line day, back in 2008. Manchester United also agreed to a friendly at Bilbao as part of the deal, which was being held up by tax issues. Marouane Fellaini, 25, is understood to have pushed through his move by putting in a transfer request.
But Everton held firm in Manchester United`s chase for defender Leighton Baines.
