Barcalona Battle Manchester United Fabagas Bid

Barcelona Battle Manchester United Fabagas Bid

Barcelona are trying to keep Cesc Fabagas out of Manchester United's clutches by insisting he does not want to join them. New Old Trafford boss David Moyes offered the Spanish giants £26million for the former Arsenal skipper,26,on Monday. If that is turned down, the Premier League champions are ready to break their own £3.75million transfer record to land him.
Manchester United believe Fabagas is willing to join them if Barcelona want to sell. But Barcelona coach Tito Villanova said last night: " I know he has received offers from other teams but Fabagas has told me it is his dream to stay.
"He doesn't want to go to other teams for money or playing time. "He knows there is competition for places but he wants to stay." However, Manchester United are ready to top the £30.75million they paid Tottenham for Dimitar Berbatov in 2008. Arsenal have first refusal on Fabagas. But they are unlikely to activate their £25million buy-back clause for the Spanish midfielder if Barcelona decide to sell him.

David Moyes would be happy with 25% of Alex Ferguson's sucsess

David Moyes would be happy with 25% of Alex Ferguson's success

David Moyes insists he would be happy to win a quarter of Sir Alex Ferguson's silverware by the time he leaves Old Trafford. Alex Ferguson lifted an amazing 38 trophies in 26 years as Manchester United manger. And new boss David Moyes confessed: "It's my first season as manager and im following probably the finest football manager that's lived. "If I can even win a quarter of what he won, then I'll have done very well.
"So the first thing I've got to do is settle in to the job, get to know everybody and find my way round. "I'm really fortunate that everybody who's working at the club is making that easy for me. "The players especially , have been terrific in what they're doing and we'll be adding one or two more players who've come in to join us, who have maybe been away with International teams over the summer time in the next month or so."
Striker Robin Van Persie is due to join up with the Manchester United squad in Sydney ahead of Saturday's pre-season friendly against and A-League All Star side.
Manchester United lost the first match of their Far East tour 1-0 to the Singha All Star XI in Bangkok on Saturday. They are also due to play two games in Japan and one in Hong Kong before heading home. David Moyes will hope to have some new signings in the bag by then although Barcelona midfielder Thago Alcantara will NOT be one of them.
Bayern Munich confirmed yesterday the Spaniard 22, will join up with his former Nou Camp boss Pep Guardiola after the clubs agreed a £22million fee. Ryan Giggs, 39, admits Manchester United's stars are getting used to life under the new boss. The Welshman, who is now filling a dual role as player-coach, said: " Its obviously strange because I've only had one manger for 20-odd years. "But we move on and it's like any other pre-season; you've got to work hard, knuckle down and prepare as best you can for the first game of the season against Swansea.
" So it's not been that different really."
Giggs is about to kick off his 23rd season as a Manchester United player. He added: "Crazy, aren't I? But I'm enjoying it just as much as I did 20 years ago. "The thing about Manchester United is you have to do it all over again. And that philosophy will remain the same even though there is now a new man at the helm.
"This is the start of the journey this season and I hope to be lifting a trophy again at the end of it."
